Local teens played the roles of Santa’s helpers to bring some holiday spirit to pediatric patients at West Palm Beach’s Quantum House during a “Christmas in July” celebration.
On July 27, Little Smiles organized the party with fresh-baked cookies, a hot chocolate bar, “snowball” fight, crafts and a visit from Santa, complete with gifts for each child.
The patients, who ranged from one year old to 14, came from all over the world to stay at Quantum House, a facility next to St. Mary’s Medical Center where families of sick children can stay during treatment.
“We were looking for a way to get our teen and pre-teen volunteers involved while on summer break,” said Little Smiles Volunteer Coordinator Camie Swinson. “Quantum House immediately came to mind as the perfect setting for a Christmas in July Celebration. It was incredible to see our young volunteers interacting with the children there for treatment. There were smiles everywhere, especially when Santa showed up.
