Helping kids be kids during difficult times
Right now, thousands of children in Southeast Florida are facing the most difficult time of their lives- serious illness, homelessness, or other tragedies.
They are spending their days alone in hospital rooms, shelters, or other temporary homes going through painful procedures and experiencing emotional strains they are not equipped to handle.
Little Smiles works with Child Life specialists, nurses, law enforcement, and other critical staff members of almost 30 facilities to bring (big) little smiles.
We do this by providing experiences, toys, and essential items to children in need through the help and generosity of our community.
Together we can brighten their day.
The Florida Chapter of Little Smiles has been operating in Palm Beach County and the greater southeast Florida region since 1999.
The charity was launched by a local businessman named Chip Donohue who inspired his family, friends and colleagues to help him bring joy and comfort to children and their caregivers at Palm Beach Children’s Hospital.
Now whole families, donors, area businesses and volunteers have helped Little Smiles expand services to 28 pediatric facilities from St. Lucie to Miami-Dade Counties.
The organization also has chapters in North Carolina, Western New York, and Philadelphia.
