Employees at the Palm Beach County Tax Collector’s Office donated more than $9,800 and 12,900 ice pops to help kids in local hospitals. Nurses use the ice pops during an IV procedure to numb the area and also give the patient an incentive treat after it’s all done. The generous donation from Palm Beach County Tax Collector’s Office will help us bring more even more smiles to children in hospitals, shelters and other facilities.
We had the opportunity to bring smiles to a patient who is in and out of PICU with an ongoing illness. He is one of three siblings, who each have medical disabilities. Having three young children with disabilities is not easy for parents, so it was awesome to be able to help in any way we could. We were able to meet this little guy and provide developmentally appropriate toys for all three children that will help with their at home therapy. Rarely does this patient leave the house unless going to the doctor or hospital. But when he saw all of these new toys, his whole face was beaming and he could not wait to play! This is what you do for our kids in South Florida.
Little Smiles is thrilled to welcome Kaylin Basset to the Little Smiles family! Born and raised in Palm Beach Gardens, Kaylin joins the team as our new Program Manager. She attended the University of Central Florida where she studied hospitality and event management. She has always been passionate about events, but wanted to make her work count for something bigger than just planning parties.
After living in Atlanta for three years and working as an event manger and assistant floral designer, she decided it was time to head back home to the beach. Growing up with a mom who is a pediatric nurse, Kaylin was always involved with kids and loved volunteering with local children’s organizations. It was an easy YES when her connection to Little Smiles offered an opportunity to make this passion a career. She is so excited to be a part of the growing Little Smiles family and can’t wait to help grow our program to meet the needs of even more kids in Florida!
The Little Smiles Youth Council bounced into Palms West Hospital to put on an Easter Egg Hunt for the children staying there during the holiday season. The kids and nurses had fun searching the floor for eggs and surprises.
