Sometimes getting treatment at the hospital is downright awful. Days and nights blend together, everything seems dulled by the lights and sounds and you can’t remember the last time you didn’t feel pain much less joy. It’s those times that nurses call Little Smiles to come to the rescue. Whether it’s a distracting video game, a giant Lego set to focus on or a new, signed sports poster to show off – we’ve got the stuff that makes kids smile. Just look at these happy faces!
ChildNet Palm Beach is responsible for managing the local system of services and supports for our communities’ most vulnerable children. When we heard that they had over 43 young people in their foster care program graduating with vocational (2), college (5), high school (29+) and GED programs (11) we were thrilled to have an opportunity to give these amazing kids a big smile. Little Smiles did a special project to raise funds to give each one of them a laptop.
While graduation is a major milestone for any child, it is especially inspiring for this group of students who have overcome incredible obstacles to succeed. This was the largest number of graduates ChildNet has ever had, and it far surpassed national statistics of foster children who make it to graduation. Little Smiles wishes each and every one of these students the very best in their future endeavors.
When Jason and Virginia heard that little Bella was feeling down, they decided to pay her a visit! Bella got to hang out with two of her favorite local celebrities from The KVJ Show on 97.9 – and they even brought her a Nintendo Switch from Little Smiles! From early morning to late in the day, KVJ goes where the smiles are needed. THANK YOU JASON AND VIRGINIA!
Nurses have talent! Who knew so many could paint? Everyone had such fun at Little Smiles ‘Nurses Night Out’, and we just love honoring these incredible professionals who do so much for area kids. We are so excited to bring smiles to them as well as the children in their care.
Camp Boggy Creek is no ordinary place. It is filled with extraordinary children who are finding joy, camaraderie and lifelong friendships as they battle severe illnesses. Founded by Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, it’s located right here in Florida and is a perfect place for local kids to get away from it all. Every year Little Smiles helps transport kids from southeast Florida to this very special getaway, the ultimate kids sleepover! Thank you donors, you just helped make summer happen for some amazing kids.
